TWO HUNDHEB MEN AT WORK. The prospects ot the Waiomo goldfield a* c moot encouraging. More than a dozen claims have been pegged off, and there are now about 200 men on the field, 40 of whom are engaged in the erection of a 20-stamper battery for the Pavoqnofc Company. The Paroquet mine, which was the first discovered in the dir-trict, is fully manned. Loin io and Plummer's recent discovery is called the Golden Rock. It is JA miles nearer the Thames than the Paioqnefc. The reef is four feet thick, and shows f-ee gold of good quality, and it can be treated easily by the old battery process, as there are no complex ores.
