An Adventurous Voyage. A SUCCESSION OF HEAVY GALES. The Crew Exist on Rat's Flesh.
On tie armal of the Marine Board at Twofold Bay, Captain Bourne Russell, harbour-master, leported some extraordinary circumstances attending the voyage of the French barque Julie, which has put in there short of provisions, and "suffering from the effects of heavy weather. The Julie is over 100 days out irom Humboldfc Bay uith a cargo of redwood for Melbourne. She encountered a succession of heavy gales, which smashed in the bulwarks and swept away the whole of her deck cargo of timber. Some weeks ago the provisions ran short, and after the crew had been living on reduced rations for some time, they were compelled to ex ict as best they could on o.lbatiosi ile.-li and on rats, which were captured on the ship by the half-starved sailois. According to the information gatheied by Captain Russell, the crew had, piior to reaching Twofold Bay, been li\iiig principally on a dish which ho described as stewed nits. The barque is now lying in the bay awaiting the sei vices of a friendly steamer to tow her out to sea, so that she may pioceed to Melbourne.
