Seamen's Strike.
The "Sydney Evening News" of September 7th says: "During the past week cables were received from Auckland, stating that the Sydney steamers Collaroy and Coonanbara had been chartered. The owners of the latter steamer denied the statemcut as far as their vessel was concerned. The next cable was received on Saturday to the effect that the fine little steamer Bellinger, belonging to Mr B. B. Niccol, had been obtained for the Seamen's Union. It appears that the Bellinger has been chartered from Mr Niccoll by Mr J. D. Young, of Sydney, for a period of six months, to run between Auckland, Russell, and Whangarei, both the latter ports being in the Bay of Islands. The charter was not on behalf: of the Seamen's Union in any way. The captain, engineers, and officers employed by Mr Niccol are to remain on the vessel, which cannot tr-ade to any ports except those mentioned."
