SKATING IRINK BALL.
The plain ami- fancy dress ball held in the To Aroha Public Hull on Tuesday nit^ht last, to close the vinking season, passed o(T very successfully, and notwithstanding the fact that the boisterous weather krpfc many away who would otherwise have attended, there was a large and merry gathering. Many of the dresses worn by those present were both elegant and novel, the effect being oxcee lingly pleasing. Dancing was started soon nfter 8 o'clock, and kept up with great vigour until early dawn the following morning, with an interval at midnight for supper, which was •*ervod in a style creditable to the management, and to the caterer Mrs L. J. Ftazer. The following wero among the dresses worn : — Mrs F. Pavitt, 14 Lady of ICtli Century ;" Mrs 13. A. Pavitt, 4 ' Romp ;" Mrs Tunge, " Spanish Lady ;" Mrs Frazer, "Gretchen," from Rip Van Winkle ; Mrs Vause, "Lady 19th Century;*' Mesdnmes ! Wilson, Turner, Marsdon, Smithyman, Edwards, Johnson, May, etc., evening dress ; Miss Pavitt, (t French Peasant Girl •" Miss Y. Pavitt, " Shepherdess;" Miss Williams,' "Red Riding Hood ;" Miss Clarke, " Pet of the Regiment ;'' Miss Ilartly, "Auckland Weekly Nows;" Miss Edwards, "Ivy Queen;" Miss Tonge, " Turkish Lady ;" Miss Royuolds, "Twilight;" Mm Reid, "Lady of the 19th Century ;" Miss Mace, " Spanish Lady ;" Misses Wainwpght, Mainly, Farrell, ote, evening drf-H. Al.uiigay, " Petty Ollioer — Naval Brigade ; ' Mr Everitt, "Private — Naval Brigade ;" Mr Ouihw.iite, "To Aroha linalid ;M; M Mr fiercer, " FootLaller ;" Masters F. ami 11. Tonge, " Man-of -warsmen ;" Master F. Pavitt, "^pauisli Fisherboy;" Messrs Wilson, Rol>M/n, Dounes, May, Marsden, tlohnson, Isemonger, To'.ige, Meiizies, M.iukio, Quiulnn, li»ynolds, Maclean, Duvey, etc., evening dress The hall was ve.y tastefully decorated with ev/rgrcens, flags, and Chinese lantern*. Mr J. May most efficiently carried out the duties of M.C., and the music supplied by Mr Qmnlai^, (piccolo), with piano accompaniment, was all that could be desired. The whole of the arrangements were carried out by Messrs Vause and Frazer, to whom much credit is due for th^ very successful manner in which the affair passed off.
