THE EXILE.
I dwell in the heart of a busy town Where Nature never wins ; Where all is toil till the sun is down From the hour when day begins. But midst the city's busiest streams, Above its loudest hum, I hoar some sounds, I dream some dreams, That as sweet visions come. When evening's radiant sunset-shine Lightens tho city's towers, I seem to be back in the homo once mine, And tho sunrays fall on flowers. The beautiful church, with its whisp'ring trees, Calls to mo far away, And the Sabbath bells sound over the breeze, Summoning us to pray. And there, 'neath tho shade of those holy walls. The unforgotten rest; The bright sun shines, and the sweet dew falls O'er ouch unconscious breabt. The days that are dead have, too, their grave, Low in my silent heart ; But Memory out of tho past I save. Ami rinvpr will she dnDart.
