Thou peerless gem, of rays serene ; Thou mould of morals — virtue s queen ; Thou star benign. Thou soul ennobling— heavenly art— Uuide thou my footsteps, tongue, and heart With light divine. And bo my weapon, helm, and shield, "Whilst on this earthly battle field. In peace or strito, My highest aim, my guard and guide. Within thy wall let me abide Throughout this life. Thy glory cheer the darkest day Of this life's journey : guard my way From lies' fell dart Let heart and mind in thy strength soar. Above tho darkest powers roar, .And o'er hell's art. Within thy sphere the nir is pure, In thy domain to dwell sccuro When storm winds racje. ICarth holds no safer dwelling-place, High Ileaven ne'er granted greater grace To you tli or ago. IE thou could'st sway the human mind, And with thy grandeur teach mankind To banish lies. If man to man truth always told, Then Heaven's great hosts could here behold A paradi&e.
