The Gilchrist Scholarships.
The Governor of Victoria has received a communication from England to the eflecfc that the Gilchrist annual scholarship of £100, which has hitherto been open for competition amongst the scholars of the Australian colonies and Tasmania, will be withdrawn after the award had been made in connection with the examination to be held in January next, and that the Gilchrist Biennial Scholarship of 1)1.00, open to New Zealand scholars, will be withdrawn at once.
