AN ALPHABET OF SUCCESS.
It is said that Baron Rothschild had the following alphabetical list of maxims framed on hid bunk walls :—: — ttend carefully to details of your busi ne^s. Be prompt in all things. Consider well, then decide positively. Dare to do ri^ht, f cai< to c^° w* oll gEndure trials patiently. Fight life's battle bravely, manfully. (Jo not into the .society of the \icious. Hold integrity sacied. Injure not another's reputation nor business. Join hands only with the virtuous Keep your mind from evil thoughts. Lie not for any consideration. Make few acquaintances. Never try to appear what you aie not. Observe good manners. Jay your debts promptly. Question not the vciacity of .t friend. Respect the counsel of youi parents. Sacrifice money rather than principle. Touch not, taste not, handle not intoxicating drinks. Use your leisure time for improvement. Venture not upon the threshold of w rong. Watch carefully over your pa-oions. 'Xtend to everyone a kindly Habitation. Yield not to discouragement. Zealously labour for the right. And success is cci tain.

It is almost impossible for country people to recognise the dense ignoiance as. 'to all matters agricultural and rural from which thechildren of the London poor suffer.
