Ab this unfortunate moment the Queen drove up and relieved the Prince of his embarrassment. It will be remembered that the marriage between the Grand Duke and Mme. Kalemine was annulled, chiefly at the instance of Queen Victoria, who did not like this successor lo her favourite daughter, Alice.
