A Balloon Accident. PROFESSOR CHESTER ATTEMPTS AN ASCENSION, BUT FAILS.
A max known as Professor Chester foil from a hofc-air balloon at Stockton, on July 17, and was considerably bruised, but not dangerously injured. He had been engaged as an attraction at Goodwater Grove, a short distance from this city. There was a fairsized crowd. He did not want to make the ascension on account of the wind, but finally consented to go up. When he had reached an altitude of fifty feet the balloon struck a tree. Chester received a large gash in his forehead. An attempt wa? made to get him out of the tree, when a limb broke and he fell to the ground. He fell on his left side, and for a short time suffered from partial paralysis, but improved later and will probably recover.
