The action of the Government in accepting the vital amendments made by the House of Lords in the Irish. Land Bill is offensive to the Liberal Unionists. Several have seceded. LoxNDON, August 22. Eighty Gladstonians have joined the Irish National League. A stormy debate is expected in the House of Commons on Thursday, on the motion that Parliament sanctions the proclamation of the Irish National League. Mr Jacob Bright and three other members of the Radical party will attend the Nationalist meeting to be held in Dublin, to protest against the proclamation under the Crimes Act for the suppression of the National League. The debate in the House of Commons on the Government motion that Parliament should approve of the proclamation of the Irish National League is exciting a large amount of interest throughout the country. Mr Gladstone has given notice that he will on Thursday move that an address be presented to the Queen, praying that the National League be not proclaimed under the Crimes Act. The Gladstonian Liberals are determined to use to the utmost their powers of opposition to the Government proposal. In addition to the large number of Mr Gladstone's supporters who have become members of the National League, it is reported that there are about 50 in a state of indecision as to whether they should join the League or not. London, August 24. The dissatisfaction throughout the United Kingdom with the action of the Government in proclaiming the Irish National League is becoming more widespread. It has also leaked out that the Marquis of Hartington was opposed to the step, and expostulated with the Government against; taking it— urging that it was unneces f ary and ill-advised.
