In the Jaws of Lions.
The residents near the corner of Wentworth Avenue, Chicago, were aroused at daybreak recently by the rnosfc terrifying series of shrieks and gioans and roars proceeding from a circus located near that corner. The circus people were alto aroused by the unusual uproar and proceeded to investigate. Fainting on the floor of the menagerie was found Henry Decaber, one of the attendants. One of hia legs was torn and mangled. Above him roared and wrestled with the restraining burs the lions, which are the principal feature of the show. Decaber's leg was terribly lacerated, and he had nearly bled to death by the time assistance arrived. When he recovered consciousness he said that he had gone to sleep at night on top of the cages containing the lions. The first thing he knew was the beasts had dragged his leg through the upper bars of the den and were clawing and biting the flesh off ifc. They pulled him oft" the roof and fell down on the lloor fainting, but how the excited lions came to let go his limb he does not know. Decaber was taken to the County Hospital in an ambulance, and is reported to be doing as well as could be expected,
