ENGLISH CAPITAL ON THAMES GOLDFIELD. Important Concessions.
Thames, August 10. It is stated that the offer for the Mammoth claim, Karangahake, by an English Syndicate has been accepted by the owners^ At a meeting of the County Council followlowing resolutions were apopted re the original motion made by Mr Brodie regarding inducements for the introduction of English capital for the prospecting and working of mines in the country. The first was that Jon any company^ or syndicate taking up an area of land for gold mining, and who would arrange to expend not less than L 50,000 thereon, the Council would refund such company or syndicate all gold duty and goldfield revenue accruing therefore for 10 years ; (2) that the Council will offer any syndicate incorporated on the above basis all the surplus water which from time to time may bo available from the race ; (3) that any concession it may be in the power of the Council to grant under present or future Acts of the General Assembly shall be determined by resolution of the Council after the proposals of the syndicate are submitted for approval. The foregoing resolutions, together with a copy of the plan of the county showing the localities of the various mines, were forwarded to Mr Brodie, County Chairman, at Auckland.
