Dr. McGlynn. REASONS WHY HE WILL NOT APPEAL TO THE POPE.

The following cablegram was sent to Rome yesterday to Cardinal Simeoni, Prefect of the Propaganda at Rome : " One hundred thousand Catholic-* in mass-meet-ing in this city, Saturday, July 18th, have denounced the threatened excommunication of Dr. McGlynn, with whom they are prepared to stand any protest against ecclesiastical interference" with the political rights of American citizens- Jeremiah Coughlix, M.D., Chairman. James Gahan, Secretary." Father McGlynn, in an interview, presented his case as that of a man who had been sentenced to be hung being forced to appeal without any idea but that the result was a foregone conclusion. He said that he would be snubbed and insulted by the Propaganda. He asserts the Church in Rome is a " Romish machine," and closes as follows : " The engineers of the machine, who are piofiting by its power and its emoluments, are really laughing in their sleeves at us for our excessive generosity in contributing Peter's pence to the supprot of a whole army of lackeys and flunkeyy, both lay and clerical, who surround the Pope with barbaric pomp scarcely equalled by that of any imperial despotic court.
