DEATH FROM BURNING. (BY TELEGRAPH -OWN CORRESPONDENT .) Tauranga , this day.
Tin: daughter of Canon Johnston, -who w;h seriously burned by her clothes catching lire on the 29th June, died on Tuesday fiom the cilect of her injuries The accident occurred while she wa^ lighting a fire at some distance fiom the hou.-e, her dress having caught Hie, and in a few minute* lier entire clothing was in a blaze. Her mother and .sister, hearing her cries, -were quickly on the scene, and by means of an empty sack succeeded in extinguishing the names, but not before thu unloi innate child was badly burned. Dr. Moir, of Taurangn, was immediately :?ent foi, and on his airhal did all that wa>> possible for the .sufferer. Great hopes Mere entertained that the injuries would not pio\e fatal, and though su Hbiing intense agony tiom her wounds, the pool child boi"e the acute pain with foititude, and to thu last displayed a calm leali'-ation of her dangei. On Tuesday moi ning, how ce 1 * or, «he seemed rather w or^e, and tailing into a quiet pa--ed peacefully away about 12 o'clock.
