SMALL POX IN CUBA. The Dread disease Spreading With Great Rapidity.

A Santiago be Cuba despatch. May 24, says :—": — " Owing to the neglect of the Government in not enforcing vaccination and disinfection, the several small-pox cases already reported in the city have been the means of spreading the disease, and, ac anticipated, an epidemic is upon us. Today it is estimated that there are fully 500 cases within the city limits proper, aparb from those outside. The death rate is estimated to be as high as CO percent., due to the fact that some 35,000 out of a population of 40,000 have not been vaccinated 1 . Medical men believe that thousands will be> swept away unless the most thorough and effective measures are adopted."
