INTRODUCIION OF ENGLISH CAPITAL. Mr Comiskcy's Mission to England.
Wellington, July 2 Pi jvuiyslon* to use a still has been granted to a gentleman who lately arrived from Homo, who proposes to establish a perfume farm at Waikato. Stringent provisions are, of course, to be made to confine the use of the .still to the distillation of essential oils from flowers and plants. It is anticipated that the industry will prove remunerative. There are not wanting signs of the employment of English capital in other enterpi i^e->. It is believed that the Blue Spur at Tuapeka, Otago, has been taken over by an English syndicate. An English Company is also said to have t\ken up a large mining undertaking next to the property o£ the celebrated Humphrey's Valley Company, on the West Coast, in which so much Auckland money is invested. The Ross Mining Company aro seeking for moro capital, and Mr Comiskey, who goes to obtain it for them in England, for which destination he has just departed, is said to have also the charge of floating a very important undertaking, namely, the nale of working of the little Wanganui property situated near Collingwood, Nelson, This estate was a native reserve, and the lato Government allowed it to be sold to a syndicate for about LI O,OOO. It contains some very good land and a fairly good harbour, and is rich in coal and gold. Its area is about 80,000 acres, and the late Government was greatly blamed for allowing it to be sold. Some other properties are also, it is said, being offered at Home. It is to be hoped that only good ventures will command attention. The failure of any of them will do great harm.
