The New Electoral Districts.

Kxowixg that your readers, or atleasta greab majority of them, are very anxious to know the boundaries of the new electoral districts, I have exerted myself to obtain definite information on the subject, but am sorry to say that I have not been successful in my endeavor. The only information which the Representation Commissioners will give is that they have completed their work so far as the North Island is concerned. They absolutely refuse to let anyone know what the new boundaries are until the whole of the colony has been mapped out, which will not be accomplished until the end of -the present week. The attitude of the Commissioners has caused a great deal of comment, as it is thought that the public ought to have the information which those gentlemen are now seeking to keep secret. The main reason why the Commissioners have taken up such a stand is that as they have to report to the Governor it would be personally discourteous to him to allow the boundaries to become publicly known until he is first informed of them. The " Post " argues thad the evident spirit and intention of the Act is that the Commissioners should let their work become known as each part of the colony is finished ; and if that course is pursued the preparation for the general elections will be expedited, because, as the boundaries become known, the Registrars of Electors will be enabled to commence their work in advance of the formal authority by preparing the rolls of the new disti-icts.
