Ox Tuesday lust (os announced by News Kxtha on that day) the lease of the County tramway, for ten years, at an upset annual rental of £100, (lessee beiu<> bound Lo keep the lino in thorough repair, and convoy quartz over i'ull length of lino for 2s 6d truck)) was oftVred for sale by Mr } If.Buckhiiicl in Auckland ; there was no competetion, and it was knocked down to the bid of the B ittery Company at the upset price. The whole of the stampers at the batteiy are engaged on New Find quartz, ami the diit is bhaping for a payable retuin. Mr Ginn (Thames), bricklayer, is making good progress with the chimney for iho new furnace, which is already up bOine dozen feet or so above the ground. The whole frjmu-work of the new fuvnaeehouse is up, and coveting in same with comigatcd iron has commenced. Information has been received to the effect that the furnace will airive in Auckland on or about June 2kh. There is nothing fresh to report from the mines.
