KARANGAHAKE.
Within the last few days stone showing strong colours of gold has boon obtained from the low level in tlic Rose mine, where the reef measures about 12 inches in thickness, and the country is all that can be exptvtod to indicate the presence of the precious mofal. The late crushing of 7 tons from the Sutro tnino resulted in a return of 240z of retorted bullion, value £2 Is 3d per ounce, which will pay handsomely for working. A crushing of D| tons from the Comstock mine, was cleaned up at Bailey's plant on Monday last for a return of GG ounces retorted bnllbn, which is certain to be poor in value because of the large percentage of silver contained therein, but the mine owners believo that it will bo payable. Considerable improvement has taken place in the prospects of the Adeline mine within the last 10 days. A branch leader has been discovered on tho hanging wall side of tho main lode, intermediate level, averaging 10 inches in width, and a good deal of the fitone broken out therefrom shows strong colours of gold. Tbo stopos abovo the low level are also looking remarkably well, and from all parts of the mine Merc are about 18 fons of store to graes, of which some "will be sent to Thames, and the balance to Uailcy's mill for treatment.
