TE AROHA CEMETERY TRUSTEES.
The first meeting of the above Board was held on Tuesday evening last. Present : Messrs F. P.ivitt (chairman), J. B. Smith, J. A. Dobson, and H. McLiver. Mr F. Pavitt was elected chairman and also secretary oil the Board, and Mr Dobson treasurer. The following resolutions were p: s ed :— That all cheques be signed by tho Chairman and Treasurer. That an account be opened with the Bank of New Zealand, Te Aroha. That the Chairman and Mr Dobson be appointed a committee to draw up bye-laws and submit same for approval nt a future meeting. That tenders be invited for fencing in the cemetery by advertisement in the AttOHA & Ohinemuri Nkws. That the Treasurer be authorised to make arrangements with Mr Devey, sen., to canvass the outlying districts for subscriptions towards tne cost of fencing and otherwise improving the cemetery. That application be made to Piako County Council for a grant of money in aid of the funds for improving the cemetery.
Mr J. B. Smith kindly promised to plant a couple of hundred shelter trees, rtnd on behalf of Mr Seddon, promised the use of horses, if required, free of ohar"ge"; and the Engineer proffered to do the neceVmry surveying 1 and laying off at a great redaction off what would bo the ordinary professional charge. The next meeting of the Board was fixed for Monday, April 4th, for the purpose of opening and accepting tenders, for the fencing ; it being the desire of the Trustees to carry out the work of fencing and improving the cemetery with as little delay as possible.
