PUBLIC MEETING.
A public meeting was held iv the Te Aroha Public ll. ill on Stturday evening last ; convened by Mr Wlntohouso ; the object being it was stated to give the candiditcs for the position of Town Commissioners an opportunity of stating their views. Mr Mills presided ; about 50 persons attended. Of the eleven candidates nominated, only Messrs Frazer, Comes, Dillon, and liotchin, were present, the first three of whom addressed tha meeting. Our representative took a full report of the proceedings, but owing to pressure on our space this week we are unable to publish it. Messrs Frazer and Comes expressed themselves as in favour or a Borough ruther than a Town District, but expressed their willingness, if eected, to give the Town District a fair trial, and ! the Chairman stated Messrs liotchin and Quinn were of the same mind. Mr Dillon thought a Town District preferable to a Borough, but was of opinion it was a mistake to have separated from the County. A resolution was unanimously carried That Messrs Frassor, J. Comes, Quinn, Hotchin, and Dillon, as the working nien'n candidates be heartily supported.
