MIN ING NE WS. WAIORONGOMAL. SPECIMENS FROM THE SUCCESS MINE.
We have much pleasure in reporting- that on Thursday night last a haul of excellent picked stone was obtained when opening out on the leading stopes of the Success mine, and also some stringers coming into the footwall showing specimen stone. We have been shown some of the stone thus obtained, which was very rich. By advertisement it will be seeri that application has been made for 100 acres of mining land by Mr P. Ferguson, to be held as a " special kdaim," and the intention it is stated is to form a company, with a capital of £100,000 to work the ground ; which is well situated, and should prove a good thing for the owners, if systematically worked on a large scale. The foregoing is tne principal mining news of importance, this week from Waiorongomai; generally things being very quiet, and the scarcity of water is again such as to greatly retard crushing operations ; only twenty head of stampers being at work, 10 on New Find dirt, and 10 for Colonist.
