The fall of rain in the early part of the week, enabled the battery to start operations again on Wednesday morning, and it has continued steadily at work night and day sino ; 20 he id stamps on Colonist dirt, 10 for New Find, and 10 treating a parcel of dirt being a clean up from along the line of tramway. Tailings Plant : 8 berdans are engaged in treating New Find tailings, and the balance for Battery (Jo. Mr Adams has this week been treating one ton of ore from the Crown mine, Karangahake, by the new process in connection with the recently erected small teat plant, the dirt being first crushed in the ordinary way by moans of stampers, the whole ofthe taiiings being afterwards calcined before being treated in the berdans with chemicals. The result of the test parcel should shortly be made known. We understand the results obtained by MiAdams since the erection of the small furnace and test plant referred to have fully come up to expectations, in fact were so satisfactory that it is probable a large furnace will be erected. Work is progressing steadily at tho Colonist, New Find, May Queen, Success elc, mines, but thero is nothing of importance to report. An extraordinary meeting of shareholders in tie NeW Find mine is convenied for Friday next, 28lh inst., in Auckland, for the stated purpose of authorising the directors to dispose of tho Company's property, should an opportunity present itself of bo doing, on such terms as they may deem most advantageous to the interests of shareholders.
