London, January 17. Bodies of Socialists attended the churches of Battersea, Sfc, Panoras, and Bartnondsey yeßterday, and hissed when prayera for the Queen were read. Scenes nf a harrowing description occurred at the evictions which have taken place at Glenbeigh, County Kerry. The tenantry resisted the police, who arrested twenty-five of them. London, January IS, Germans abroad have been warned to be prepared to rejoin the Reserves. Mr OBrien has paid Viscount Dillon £8,000, being the amount of rent collected by the Land League from his tenants. The Belgian Government state that the trade of that country with Australia has now, risen to sixty million franca per annum, and urge that the Belgians should exhibit largely at the Adelaide Exhibition. London, January IS. The "Standard" to day states that the Cabinet have resolved to introduce, at the commencement of the session, a bill combating the American conspiracy regarding Irish affairs, and which will provide for trial by special jurors, and enable the magistracy to deal summarily with ca3ee of boycotting and outrages. The bill will be applicable to the whole of the United Kingdom. The " Time3 " to-day states that the French Government have refused to mediate between Jtfussia and Bulgaria, and that Italy has been requested to do so. A letter from Lord Randolph Churchill is published, in which he insists on the necessity for economy in public expenses, and expresses his willingness to co-operate with any party effecting this. Mr Glad- j stone has written expressing approval of I lord Churchill's intention to enforce economy. The " Standard " is of opinion that the Victorian loan will probably be taken up at a price slightly over the minimum. The harsh evictions in Kerry are exciting the peasantry. Mr Redmond has been committed for trial on the charge of conspiracy. The official estimate of the American wheat crop is four hundred aud fifty sevan millions of bushels. The commanders of the British brigades operating in Upper Burmah, report that organised resistance on the part of the rebels is gradually ceasing. The conference between Mr Chamberlain, Mr John Morley, Sir George Trevelyan, Sir Wm. Vernon Harcourt, and Lord Horechell opened to day. It will probably be of c protracted character. Melbourne, January 14. •One hundred cases of typhoid fever ha\e occurred in Melbourne since the beginning of the year. Seventeen persons have died from the disease. Melbourne, January 18.— The Board of Health are considering the advisability of releasing the Preussen's passengers v?ho have not contracted small-pox, as no new cases have occprred at the quarantine station for some time. At Pertham to day a goods train ran into a passenger train, causing damage to the extent of £4000 and blocking the line for eeveral houra. No one was injured by ths accident. Sydney, January 16. A report has been received from Kimberley tbat thirty-nine blacks have been massacred in that district, Sydney, January 18. — Parliament was opened by commission at noon to-day. Sir H. Parkes has not yet completed the formation of a new Ministry. A large crowd of men on strike at Bulli impeded the new hands, who were proceeding to work this morning, and perauadad them to join iv the strike. The death at the ouarantine station yesterday brings up the total deaths frcrn smallpox to 12.
