Sydney, January 13. Veky hot weather has been experienced. The bulk of the subscriptions to the Patriotic Fund have now been returned. The Hon Nagle Ryan died suddenly last night while in his buggy. Outrages upon women, more or less serious in character, are reported from several parts of the colony. Yesterday, Hutchins, the pedestrian, ran fifty yards in 5 3-sth seconds. At a meeting of unemployed carpenters, several tales of misery and suffering were related. A largely - attended public meeting at Port Macqaarrie has carried a resolution that a policy of Protection is most advan* tageous for the colony.
Melbourne, January 13. Typhoid fever continues to spread. Pour fresh cases occurred to-day, and one at Ararat proved fatal. Ninety cases have beeu reported since the 2nd January, 18 of which were fatal. It is believed, however, that many cased are not reported to the Centrul Board of Health. The disease is prevalent in various parts of the colony.
Brisbane, January 13, Intense heat is reported from various parts of the colony. Up to 114 has been registered in the shade. Grain and water are everywhere abundant. Babbits have been Been in the western district of the colony.
