Sydney, November 16. The weather continues favourable, and a good season is anticipated. The unemployed are now mostly proTided for. The reported death of Mr Andrew Goldie, the New Guinea explorer, is untrue. The Captain of the City of Melbourne, with the Hon. H. Lyttelton, claim to have discovered Captain Cook'B cairn, ereoted during his visit to the Endeavour River. The cairn was found on a hill I,oooft above the eea level. The defence of the Government has been entrusted to Mr Dibbs, who has addreesod meetingß at Cooma and Quean beyan. Referring to the agitation for a dissolution, he -said that the Governor had power to disaolve, but referred to the petitioners as a *tnaH and insignificant section of the community, His defence of the Government was not strong. Sydney, November 21. — Sir Patrick Jennings, addressing a meeting of his constituents at Dubbo last night, dwelt at some length on the policy of the Government. He announced that the land and income tax bills would be again introduced. Bills would be also brought forward for amending the laws relating to land, local government, irrigation, and the Civil Service. A scheme is getting discubsed for the thorough retrenchment of the Civil Service. Sydney, November 19.— Mr Julian Solomons, the recently-appointed Chief Justice, has resigned his appointment, owing to the hostile attitude assumed towards him by bis brother Judge*. The Executive have expressed themselves in favour of Mr Solomone retaining the Chief Justiceship. A meeting of the members of the Bar and of solicitors was held tonight, when it was resolved to request Mr Solomonß to withdraw Mb resignation. Ihe matter is now under the consideration of the Government. Melbourne, November 22 The Gamblor Bailed to-day for Adelaide, crowded with diggers for the Teetulpa goldfields, Among them being 100 men from the Sand hurifc district. Adelaide, November 23. - Favourable reports as to the Teetulpagoldfields continue to be received. A rumour is current to the effect that a sixty-ounce nugget has been found in the district.
