I Jove the -world— its skies, its flow'rs, Its silver clcude, ite roseate glow ; I love the blue'ethereal space ; I hate to see a cloud— of woe ! I love a child when young and fair, I love a boy when wild and free ; But O ! I hate the brutal cause That Etamps him hnir to poverty. I love a fair and beauteous maid When he*ven beams m her sweet eye And she ib pure — but O ! I hate The fiend who makes her life a lie I love a man, -with strength of will To bear what feebler hearts may wring ; But O ! I hate, if he should dare Bow down unto a meaner thing ! Where is the breast that cannot feel Far other's wants, and to his fate .Bares not his arms to fight the wrong ? nis weakness then indeed I hate.
