Closing of the Colonial Exhibition. London, November 11.
The Exhibition was closed to-day amid great enthusiasm, thousands singing the National Anthem. The Exhibition grounds were especially illuminated. During the time the Exhibition has been open it has been visited by five and a half millions of people. It is considered certain that it will be re-opened in June on a grander scale. The dinner given by Mr B. Stanhope, Secretary for the Colonies to the Wxecntive Commissioners of the Indian and Colonial Exhibition, was a most brilliant affair. Amongst thope present were the Duke of Cambridge, Sir Samuel Davenport, Sir Julius Yon Haaet, Mr Bosisto, and Mr James Thompson. The Duke of Cambridge said that the Exhibition had greatly helped to weld the Empire together. Mr Stanhope, in proposing the toast of the guests, lauded the Executive Commissioners, and said the Exhibition had been the means of giving the colonies a twenty years' start, and had been productive of a vast amount of good. Sir Arthur Blythe responded on behalf of the colonies.
