POETRY. LIVE AND LET BE.

XAtc and let be t The Alpine heaven la bright ; Tired elonrtleta sleep along yon azure sea; Soft air* steal by and whisper, faint and light, Live and let be ! Xdve and let be ! Is it not well to rest Sometimes from labour 1 live as do the flowers % , , Bask in the sun9hine, lie on Nature's breast, Not counting hours? Hot heeding aught, but on the vale, worn oheek To feel the warm breath of the murmuring pine. And watch on many a rose flushed, hoary peak Heaven's glory shine ? Xb it oot well ? Sweet, too, at wondering eve To list that melody of tinkling bells. And hear old Echo in h*r distance weave Endlees farewells? Xftght. too.hatb here her mufio, deep and strong, Of oataraots, solemn as an ancient psalm Whence the soul's feverl, born in heat and tbroog. Grows cold and calm. live and let be ! It will be time enough Hereafter to resume the great world s care, 'When autumn skies are troubled, winds are rough. And trees are bare. Then to renew the flight, the cause re-waken, Dare all the strife, the burden, and the pain. Sally the weak : the downcast, the forsaken, Lift up again ! And what ttaou do eat then, in peace begotten, Shall show like peace, her looks and tones recall. And, all the frail and faulty past forgotten, Brirggoodtoall. TiU then let nothing past or future vex The mn trammelled aoul.'mid. Nature's freedom Wtom thoughts that darken, questions that perplex. Live and let be ! Spectator.
