KARANGAHAKE.
Tlie groat event of the week here, has been the new discovery in the Ivanhoe mine. It was made by Me Williams and party who supposed that they were working outside of the Ivanhoe Company's boundary, bat on reference to the plan it was found that they were inside that claim, which embraces 77 men's ground, and therefore they were obliged to be content with the adjoining vacant ground on the same reef. This lode measures 14 feet fr mi wall to wall, and ifc has now been stripped for a distance of 35 feet along the line of its outcrop, with more or less gold showing through-
out. At present work here is confined to stripping the reef, and preparing ft paddock for quartz, after which a trial lot of 10 tons will be sent to the battery for treatment and the stone shows so much gold that the manager is confident of itsyielding an all round return of 2 to 3 ounces per ton. It is expected that the last loads of the Adeline quartz; will be delivered in Paeroa to-day, and then the whole lot comprising about 50 tons will be despatched per s.s. Kotuku to Thames, where it will be treated at the Moanatain battery.
