OWHAROA.
At present owing to some hitch aboitf the payment of the subsidy, nothing 1 is being- clone towards extending the prospeoting level which is now in about 1100 feet an 1 another 150 feet of driving 1 would bring it up to a channel of country, which has been proved to be auriferous. In the Radical section of the Smile of Fortune mine Fanner and party have taken a tribute, and are now drivingnorth on Campbells leader, but at present the country is very hard and unfavourable to the existence of the precious metals. Madden and party who hare also taken a tribute in the same mine, have started to drive from the county road, so as to intersect No. 4 leader from which some splendid returns were obtained in the level above that point, and I believe this party will be well rewarded for their time and trouble.
