SALE OF DRINK TO SEAMEN.

Wellington, Oct 5. The Government have received a cable despatch from the Admiralty, suggesting that tho Government ahould, next session, legislate in the direction of regulating the sale of intoxicating drink to the seimeu belonging to Her Majesty's warships while stationed ia New Zealand waters. The suggestion is made in consequence of the large number of desertions which are attributed to drunkenness. The question will be considered at the Cabinet next week, and it is understood that the Government are favourable to taking action in the direction desired.
