The Gold Discovery at Great Barrier.
Wellington, October 5. Mr Gordon, Inspecting Engineer of the Mines Department, is likely to be despatched to the Great Barrier in about a week's time to report on the gold discovery on that Island. If he cannot get away, Mr McLaren, Inspector of Mines at the Thames, will be despatched to the locality. The Governmsut haTe not received authentic information with respect to alleged discoveries of gold by the inspector in Wanganui district.
