Some time since the County Council made application to the Mines Department for a subsidy out of the prospecting vote, to be expended in assisting Reilly and party who are prospecting at Waitekauri, and this week a reply was received to the effect that a sum of £50 had been granted in accordance with the council's application. Codlin Moth. — At a special meeting of the Uhinemuri Horticultural Association held in the Public Hall here on {Saturday evening last, it. was decided not to proceed with the petition praying Government to proclaim the Ohineiuuri County an infected district within the moaning of the Codlin Moth Act, 188 1.
