MINING NEWS. TE AROHA AND WAIORONGOMAI,
There is very little to report from the mines in this district since last issue* The rosult of the parcels sent to the old Country for treatment from the Tui may now soon be expected, and is being anxiously looked forward to. In the Nfew Find work is progressing much as reported in last issue. Mace and Sampson, tributers in the Three Fools section of the Waiorongomai Co.'s mine, are reported as having struck some "good gold.
Success.—ln our last week's report we stated some very encouraging results had been met witn by Tringham and party, owners of this ground ; since then the reef has been traced to below the track for a distance of fully 60ft, and good payable gold been discovered. At present, in order to give easy access to the county tvamway, a level is being driven on the reef, which should afford some 30ft of backs. We trust the owners of this claim will be well rewarded for the pluck and enterprise excited. It would be well for the field if a little more spirit were shown in the direction of " prospecting. Without searching for it, ifc is unreasonable to | suppose anything very rich is goiug to be discovered. There has been no retort this "week. ]
New Era. Battkry. —The proprietors of this plant have been having some alterations catrjLgjLout. and it is intended to resume work at an early date ; probably on ore from the Premier mine. Trial parcels of 5 cwt each from several of the mines have been forwarded to Auckland for treatment at Mr Gr, Frasers testing plant in Stanly street, which has given such excellent results in the past, and which is we are informed on exactly the same principles as the new plant erected at Waiorongomai. Mr Frasei- will thus personally be able to superintend the mode of treatment, and as a result of his observations direct the manner of treatment at the New Era Battery, at which it is intended to treat pircels of 5 tons each of the same class 0? ore as the teat parcels of 5 cwt each to be treated in Auckland.
