TRIAL LOTS FOR CALIFORNIA.

On Monday last a truck containing about 2 tons of quartz was attached to the train for Auckland en route for San Francisco ; Mr H. H. Adams, battery manager for Messrs Firth and Clarke, proceeding by same train, on liis way to meet Mr J. C. Firth, who is now in California, and it is intended to have these trial lots treated by the newest processes known. Of the samples taken we understand about a ton and a third, was obtained from the Galena (late Luc'^y Hit), 2cwt from the New Find, No. 1 reef ; lswfc from New Find, mineral ore from low level ; about lcwt general dirt from Champion lodes, Tui, (obtained from Mr 0. A. Comes), etc., etc.
