The San Francisco mail Service.

Wellington, Aupust 24, The following letter ha* been addressed to Sir .Julius Vo^el by the Mail Agent :-~ San Francisco, July 31 : On August I, "'the' overland trains between San Franscipco .and Kew York, will run each way in five dayß fifty minutes. On August 15, it is expected that the time will be reduced to four dayß 12 hours. The English mails for the colonies should arrive at San Francisco on Thursday**, two days before the steamer leaves for Auckland. The Spreckles Co. are willing for $he' steamers to leave here on Thursdays, but with ample notice given in London and elsewhere, ao that passengers who have been booked in advance may be notified of the change. You should be able to receive mail two days earlier. Please notify me of any change that you may make, and I- can telagrapb to New York Post-office, besides public announcement through Associated Press, Mails for England should always catch the Saturday fast steamer from New York. If Oceanic and Union steamers arrive here Sunday morning this will insure three or four days earlier delivery in London.
