THE IRISH QUESTION.

Irish National Convention, New York, August 18 —The Irish National Convention was opened to-day at Chicago. In his speech on the occasion, Mr Egan said the Nationalist position was to secure Irish liberty peacefully if they can, but otherwise if they must. New York, August 19. The Irish National Conventign at Chicago, has passed a resolution thanking Mr Gladstone and his followers for their efforts to obtain Home Ruiefor Ireland. Mr Redmond made a speech iri which he denounce England's policy regarding Ireland, and said that the latter had' no future course but to fight for her rights. London, August 20. The Chairman of the Irish National Convention, Chicago, cables to Mr Parnell that, a "united arid harmonious convention cordially endorses his policy.
