Snowstorm occurred here today heavier than any experienced for 12 years past,, the snow lying in the street four inches deep. The tramcara were seriously hindored, but no interruptions to railway traffic is reported. Blenheim Last Night. A heavy fall of snow took place on the bills close to town last night, followed by a Bharp frost. Dunedin, Last Night. The snow fall here is the heaviest for years, and is over six inches deep.
MR KENKICK'S SUCCESSOR. Thames, Last Night. A private telegram received here to-day from a most reliable source states that the appointment of Mr H. A. Stratford as successor to the late Warden Kenrick is almost beyond all doubt, and it is anticipated that to-nignt's Gazette will contain the appointment among other Magisterial changes. Mr Stratford is at present Resi-, dent Magistrate in tVairarapa district. k WARNING. At the Police Court to-day Hugh Farrelly was fined £5 and costs, for unlawfully rescuing two goats from the public pound. THAMES RECREATION GROUND. The Borough Council havo decided to, take a poll of 'the ratepayers as to the desirability of purchasing the Waiokara flat as a recreation ground, for £1250.
