The Australians going first to the wickots, After the third wicket fall, the ecore s-anding at 134* their play was not so successful, the fielding of the Englishmen being excellent, and the* remaining seven wicketa were taken for 71 runs, the inningo closing for a total of 205 runs. Jones, who contributed the splendid ecore of 87, batted most carefully, aud uever gave a chance until declared out \hw. Affcor the usual interval, the Englishmen went to the wickets with Scotton and Grace, but the latter only succeeded in securing: 8 runs when he was caught. Shrewsbury joined Scotton, and they ran up the score to 36, when stumps were drawn for the day Scotton being not out with 10 and Shrewsbury with 17. Loxdou, July 6, The latest telegraph from Manchester a& 3 p.m. states that the England eleven in their first innings have made 156 with six wicKets down. The English team won by 4 wickets.
