Auckland, June 22. A iioitKiiiLE murder is reported to have been perpetrated at the Groat Barrier on Saturday morning hißt. Tho first information which we receivod of the tragedy was that a sottler named Robert Taylor had been s-hot through the head by John Caffroy, tho ma-ter of tho cuttor Sovereign of tho S<;a.», and hifi mate, Henry Perm. Further intorumtdon was received by Mr Superintendent Thoninon by telegraph irom Coiunmndel us follow : — "Caftrey, master oi tlie cutter Soveroign of tho Soas, and hw nmte Homy Punn, thot my father-in-law, Robert Taylor, dead *t, Tryphenaon Saturday morning. The cutter is ntill eruining about tho Groat. B-u-rier. Both men are well aimed Thoro is gjoafc excitement among the bottlers. I i etui nto Tryphena to morrow if the weathur will permit. Instruct ino as to inquest, and the Court, as the policeman here at Coromandol is away at the T'ki, —J, Seymour "

Accordingly Mr J. Seymour, who 13 a relative of the murdered man, and another settlor, hastily put to pea in a small boat, and after a dangerous voyage arrived at Coromandel on Sunday Puitioulars of the foul deed as given above were at once wired to Auckland.
