POSTSCRIPT. Latest About New Hebrides. London, April 2, 5. 30.
Sir F. D. Bell seems inclined to write to the " Times," pointing out the advantages of a compromise with France re the hew Hebrides. As to the " Standard's " objection that wo should have no guai'antee that France would permanently cease exporting convicts, he points out the arrangement would be a tripartite treaty between Ger-~ many, France, England, and perhaps ultimately America. I may add that, according to latest advices, Sir F. D. Bell and foir Saul Samuel support the compromise plan, whilst Garrick and Sir Andrew Clarke (instructed by Queensland and Victoria) oppose it. Sir Sir Arthur Blyth, who is neutral, could consequently eettle the question either way if he chose to ask.
