New Zealand Smelting Company. Meeting to wind up the Company. Auckland, May 7.

A special meeting of the shareholders in the above company was held at 11 o'clock this morning m the rooms of the Chamber of Commerce. Iwclve shareholders Avere in attendance, Mr J. M. Lennox presiding. The minutes of the previous meeting Avcro read also the advertisem mi opnvoiung the special meeting. J. he Chairman then moved the following resolution, " That tlie Company be wound up voluntarily under tlio provisions of The Companies Act, 1882, and tnat a Liquidator he appointed for the purposes of such winding- up." In doing so lip said that he would not occupy their time as it was certainly a most unpleasant autytomoyo such a resolution. Tlio directors naci noped. that a new company would have been iormed for the purpose of working the furnace, put apparently such was not the case. He had t oro, no alternative but to move the resolut wind up the Company. Mr Adam Porter said ho would second the motion, but he could not say that he did so with great pleasure.; With regard to the new company mentioned by the Chairman he might say that there was still a prospect of such a company being formed, but that could not bo done until the present company had been properly wound up, for they could not sell. He hoped that when tliat company had been wound up a new one would bo formed, as ho felt sure that some new system of dealing with the quartz was required at the Thanie3. Mr Aiokbn said he was glad to hoar that there was a probability of this important work being carried out, for there could bo no doubt but that it was most important. Menziesbe appointed liquadator under the supervision of the directors at a total remuneration of £00. A vole of thanks was then accorded the onairman, after which the meeting terminated.
