STARTED TO DEATH. A Shocking Case.

An inquest was held in Roath, near Cardiff, on the body of a little girl, the daughter of Benjamin Evans, labourer. The evidence of Dr. Treharne, who made the post-mortem examination, proved that the deceased" was a perfect skeleton ; there was no trace of food in the stomach, and the bowels had collapsed Death had arisen from starvation. The room occupied by the father was destitute of every article of furniture, and two buckets upturned served as seats. The wife said her husband could earn good wages, but that when he did he spent them on himself. He brought home coals, lighted the fire, and lay down in front of it himself. She and the children lay outside. They had been day 9 without food. A verdict of " Manslaughter " was returned against the father.
