The labonring classes in the United States have commenced an agitation for the initiation of the eight houis' movement. Strikes extending over a wide-spread area have resulted consequently. At Chicago a serious riot took place yesterday, resulting in the loes of several lives. It is alleged that the outbreak was instigated by a foreign Socialist organisation. Disturbances of a more or less serious nature are reported from the several industrsal centres.
