E:B. HOLT, THE LATE BANK MANAGER.
At the Supreme Court, Sydney, His Honor the Chief Justice sat in Chambers, and disposed of an application made by the plaintiff?} in the case of the Bank of "New Zealand v. Holt. The application, which was made under the Absent Defendants Act, was to examine certain persons, as garnishees, with a view to finding out whether Mr E. B. Holt wa9 possessed of certain property, particularly shares in certain companies. Mr Knox, the manager of the Colonial Sugar Company ; Mr McKenzie, secretary to the Sydney Lloyds' Association : and other gentlemen were examined, and his Honor made an order that all the property stated by the persons examined as belonging to Holt, should be held subject to the attachment. The prisoner it 1 . B. Holt, has been further charged with making a false entry, or concurring in the making of a false entry, in the bank ledger. Evidence having been given by Mr N. F. Giblin, acting manager of the bank ; F. E. Long,- teller; and Mr Edward Chisholm, merchant, the accused was committed for trial at the next Criminal Court, to be held on May s5.
