Work steadily progresses at the Tui claim9, and good stone is being obtained therefrom. Mr La-Moute [mid Te Arotia a Tisit on Sunday, leaving for Paeroa in company with Col. Fraser on Monday afternoon. Mr LaM on te appeared most favourably impressed with what he saw at the Tui, and considers tuat district most promising. lie took away with him seveial samples of ore from the (Jtiauipion lode claims, also inspected the out crop of carbonate of lead, and expressed the opinion that it would probably go into gali-iia at a little depth. Mr John Chambers from Auckland, also visited this district since last issue.
