London, March S.— The Duke of Cambridge will preside at tho farewell dinner to be given o.i tho 7th prox. to Mr Murray Smith. The Secretary of State for the Colonios, Earl Granville, has promised to attend. London, March 9.— Mr Howard Vincent, M.P., has made a suggestion in the House of Commons to the effect that an Imperial Federation Council should take place in London during the holding of the Colonial and Indian Exhibition. The Imperial Government are considering the desirability of subsidising a line of steamers between Vancouver'Isiand, Hong Kong, and Japan.
St. Peteksjiukg, March 20,— The Bulgarian diificulty has not yet beenaettled, as tho Kuesian Government insist on Prince Alexander renouncing the claim put forward by him to a life tenure of the Governorship ot Eastern Roumelia. I^Constaminoi^k, March 21.— The Rounielian diiliculty is not yet settled, Pi ince Alexander having urged his appointment as life Governor of Koumolia. However, it is expected that Prince Alexander will yield to the winhea of the Porte on the sub ject, and accept the appointment for a term of years under protest
