KATIKATI. (TO TUB EDITOR.)
SfR, — I understand that old mysterious blue paper is being hawked about again by a certain tall gentleman, who it would appear has appointed himself itinerant lecturer for the Kaiikati distnet, to teach the ratepayers thut the old Road Board saould be a thing of the puat, and that peace, hai piness, and economy would for ever reign, if the ratepayers would only listen to the voice of the charmer, and merge into the counfjy. To the ratepayers I would say beware I Cannot our m ambers take a neutral course and leave well enough alone, for if they persist in their mad folly trying to persuade the people that the moon is made of green cheese, they may find themselves out of harness before long, as endurance has its limit. The Road Board not long since tried to get separation from the Tauranga County by suspending the Counties Act in their riding, but owing to the glorious uncertainty of the law, it could not be accomplished, but another thing can be done, and proposals will be made, and that su Menly, if there is any more disturbance created, viz., to join a neighbouring county, who, like the Road Board, can show a clean sheet. The union wouU be a desirable one, neither being bankrupt. And perhaps the day is not far distant when a very lively procession may be seen wending its way to the Waihi Plains to meet another procession of a kindred nature, anJ there and then solemnize the bonds of matrimony between the Katikati Road Board and the Ohinemuri Couwty, as marriage is honourable in all things when the bed is undefiled. — Yours, etc. Nevkh Say Fail.
